Decision design that ships, and measurably moves the numbers.

Applied behavioural science for SMEs. Pricing pages that convert, onboarding that activates, funnels that don't leak. Embedded in the product, not stuck in a deck.

[ TL;DR ]

Behavioural Science & Research at Bluematter Labs is applied behavioural science for SMEs, decision architecture, pricing psychology, conversion research, nudge design and behavioural experimentation. Embedded in the product and measured against a 30-day post-launch lift. No dark patterns.

Audit
2 weeks · one funnel · predicted-lift plan in writing
Redesign
4–8 weeks · audit + ship + 30-day measurement
Embedded
Monthly retainer · senior behavioural designer alongside the team
Method
Kahneman / Thaler / Cialdini, applied not performed
Minimum traffic
~1,000 monthly visitors on the funnel for meaningful analysis
Outcome reality
~70% of shipped redesigns show measurable lift in 30 days

See where it pays back
[01]Where it pays back

Six places behavioural design earns its fee.

[01] Practice

Decision architecture

How a choice is structured determines whether it gets made. We audit your sign-up, purchase, onboarding and upgrade flows for the dark patterns of friction, defaults and framing, and ship the redesign.

  • Defaults
  • Choice framing
  • Friction audit
[02] Practice

Pricing psychology

Anchors, decoys, bundling, currency framing. The price points on your pricing page do more emotional work than your copy, and most SMEs leave that lever untouched. We rebuild your pricing page and your contract structure for the same revenue, more wins.

  • Anchors
  • Decoys
  • Currency framing
[03] Practice

Conversion & funnel research

Quant + qual. Heat-maps, session replay and structured surveys, then behavioural-science framing layered on top. Output: a ranked list of friction points with predicted lift per fix.

  • Heat-maps
  • Session replay
  • Behavioural surveys
[04] Practice

Nudge design

Targeted nudges in product, in email, on the page, to lift activation, reduce abandonment, increase referrals. We design them, set up the experiments, and measure honestly.

  • Activation nudges
  • Email sequences
  • Referral loops
[05] Practice

Trust signal design

Social proof, reviews, certifications, scarcity, urgency, used badly, they tank trust; used well, they're load-bearing. We audit your trust stack and rebuild the parts that aren't earning their keep.

  • Social proof
  • Scarcity / urgency
  • Authority signals
[06] Practice

Behavioural experimentation

Set up the A/B framework, design the experiments, run them honestly. Most SMEs don't have the volume for traditional A/B, we use sequential testing and Bayesian framing where that's the right call.

  • Sequential testing
  • Bayesian framing
  • Honest reporting
[02]How we work

Three principles we don't break.

  • [01]

    Apply, don't perform

We don't lecture about Kahneman. We change the page, ship the email, redesign the contract, and tell you which heuristic the change was based on, after.

  • [02]

    Ethics aren't optional

Dark patterns work short-term and torch retention. We avoid them, full stop. The work has to be defensible if a regulator (or your mum) reads the change log.

  • [03]

    Measurement before celebration

Every behavioural intervention has a planned measure of success. If the lift doesn't materialise in 30 days, we say so, not pivot the metric to make the slide work.

[03]Engagements

Three shapes of engagement. Quoted in writing after a 30-min brief.
